Two new studies that appeared in the September 24, 2008 edition of the Journal of Agriculture bolster the science behind the acai berry. The dominant ingredient in Acai is what is being discussed. Acai has a broad range of cellular level benefits, according to the first report. What sets Acai apart from many of the other antioxidants is simply ORAC value, while acai includes significant improvement in serum antioxidant status and inhibition of serum lipid peroxidation. The second report focuses on antioxidant properties which derive off of a sequence of assays—including ROS PMN, ORAC and LPA—and these assays measure complex natural foods using actual human cells. The acai berry is a health-potent food.
